So Dang Tired

Wednesday, September 4th, 2013

Where has my motivation gone? It seems I’ve been struck with the worst case of writer burn-out. But an idea popped in my head the other day and I felt the smallest of nudges.

I wrote a query to quickly jot down the story and get some sense of how to structure it. Here it is:

A future full of promise and rebirth was everything Alina wanted. Waking up on a surgeon’s cutting table wasn’t.

Life was tough. At sixteen, being forced from one foster home to the next translated to bleak prospects and an uncontrollable fear of ending up in a ditch. But with no ties to family, an empty wallet, and the ghost of a past, living on the Government’s dime only caused headaches. In a moment of weakness, Alina said sayonara and swallowed a handful of sleeping pills.

Transported one hundred years into the future, where disease was predominant and healthy organs were invaluable, her body rested safely awaiting orders from large buyers of the Black Market. Illegal and forbidden by law, hundreds of thousands of bodies travelled the same distance for scientific advancement and testing.

But there’s one thing no one expected: she was still alive. And no one was going to touch her.

TIME OUT is a XX,XXX Young Adult Science Fiction.
